MAINTENANCE

Watering:

After sod has rooted, less frequent and deeper watering should begin.  Sod should receive 1" - 1.5 " of water per week.  Weather conditions will dictate the amount and frequency of watering.

Mowing:

The first mowing should occur only after sod has firmly rooted.  For best results, keep mower blades sharp and never remove more than 1/3 of the blade at any mowing.   Mow grass to a height of 2" - 2.5".

Fertilization:

New sod can be fertilized after 6 weeks of installation.  Apply fertilizer four times per year and only use weed, crabgrass, insect, or fungicide control if problem is present.  The following schedule can be followed to insure that sod stays healthy.

bulletEarly April - Use 30-3-5 Lawn Food
bulletLate May - Use 30-3-5 Lawn Food
bulletJuly to August - Only treat for diseases or insects if needed.  No application needed.
bulletEarly September - Use 30-3-5 Lawn Food
bulletLate October - Use 11-23-10 or 10-18-10.
